FAQs

Common questions.

+How fast will my EV charge at home?

With a Tronic-installed wall charger, charging speeds range from 40 km/h+ (single phase) up to 120 km/h (three phase) — up to 10x faster than a mobile charger, and the safest form of fast charging for your home and vehicle battery.

+What is dynamic load balancing?

EV chargers with dynamic load balancing protect your property's main supply by automatically adjusting charging speed to the available electrical capacity. It adds no overload risk to your property, ensuring safe, reliable charging.

+How does solar integrate with EV charging?

Solar and EV charging work hand in hand. We supply and install solar-integrated EV chargers that charge from excess solar production, reducing your reliance on the grid.

+What is vehicle-to-grid (V2G)?

Also known as bidirectional charging, a V2G-compatible charger lets your vehicle charge and discharge energy to and from the grid — effectively turning your car into a mobile battery and reducing the need for a large home battery. Compatibility is still rolling out across vehicle makes; talk to our team about V2X options.

+Can I install a three-phase charger at my home?

Three-phase charging is recommended whenever your property already has a three-phase supply. Check whether your switchboard main switch is a 1-pole or 3-pole device, ask your energy retailer, or book a Tronic on-site EV assessment and we'll confirm it for you.

+Can I upgrade my electrical supply to three phase?

Yes. Three-phase supplies are common on rural and commercial properties, and larger homes can be upgraded too. It's a bigger job, but possible — get in touch to ask about a supply capacity upgrade.
